Blue Frog Bar & Grill is a slick American-style pub chain known for its accurate preparations of western food. I went to the one located in the prominent Guomao shopping mall complex in Beijing, with a view of the CCTV building. However, the food was definitely the best-looking part about going to Blue Frog, and it tasted as good as it looked.
We started off with a salad which had tomatoes, bacon, swiss cheese, arugula, and chicken, plus a whole-grain mustard dressing.
Then some sliders.
Pastas were very good – accurate flavors, al dente noodles, and large portions. I had the meatball pasta which also included marinara sauce and delicious mushrooms.
My friend went with the spaghetti Bolognese.
We got some spritzers off the drink menu (I got passionfruit) – basically carbonated water, flavoring, and a bit of sweetener. The flavoring is very mild, so if you want the intensity of soda, get a soda.
Afterwards, we window-shopped through Guomao. We got some premium popsicles as we walked around. I had raspberry-mango, which is being lifted here:
Real fruit! Plus creamy flavors.
We also went into an import supermarket (Ole) which reflects the expat presence in this area, because I love supermarkets. The first thing we saw when going in was a sunscreen display with American sunscreens.
That bottle of Coppertone is around $28. o___o
